COVID-19 update from 19/7/21

From Monday 19th July 2021 the surgery doors will be open between 8.30am - 6pm Monday - Friday. We request that face masks are worn, hands are sanitised and social distancing of 1 metres is observed whilst you are in the surgery building. The Covid-19 vaccination programme has been very successful, it is not however 100% effective at preventing infection.

You may be asked by a clinician to arrange a PCR test, this is because the Delta variant of Covid-19 gives symptoms similar to ordinary viral infections, for example headache, temperature, sore throat, runny nose and cough. Patients can arrange a PCR test via the website or by telephoning 119. The lateral flow test is not sufficiently sensitive to reliably diagnose the infection. If Covid-19 infection is passed to vulnerable patients it can cause serious illness. Covid-19 infection is now being seen quite commonly in younger patients who have not been vaccinated and thankfully rarely causes serious illness in this age group.
