Nurse Practitioners are clinically trained to assess, diagnose, prescribe and treat patients. They are highly skilled and have expertise in caring for patients with minor injuries, illnesses and conditions. They work closely with the doctors at the surgery.
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, immunisation clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions, prescription enquiries, and dealing with patient records.
We have a dedicated midwife who provides antenatal care. She holds a regular clinic at the surgery every Tuesday and Friday.
If you have any queries between your antenatal appointments you can contact the midwife via the community midwife office on 0116 258 4834.
The health visitors are based at Charnwood Mill in Barrow. They can be reached on 01509 410244.
They hold baby weighing clinics at the Surestart Centre on Stadon Road in Anstey. Please telephone the Health Visitors on the above number to make an appointment.
Childhood immunisations are undertaken here at the surgery by the practice nurse. These clinics take place on Friday morning by appointment only.
If you need to cancel/re-arrange your appointment please contact the surgery.
